Notes on Kite Aerial Photography: Photo Gallery
Your author with son Thomas Benton at
Limantour Beach (July 1996, 37K jpg).
This page contains kite aerial photographs destined for our family album. In the adjoining image I've left my normal position anchoring the kite and moved underneath the camera. Simon Harbord reports that he often moves about with the transmitter and I should try it more often. I'm fond of this particular shot and its almost diagrammatic representation of our relative sizes.
Thomas Benton hanging on the beach (July 1996, 43K jpg left and 40K jpg right).
On the left Thomas is lounging between Claudia and brother Charlie. The right shot is a low-level KAP portrait taken with the camera floating at around 2-1/2 feet high. The head above Thomas belongs to Charlie.
Claudia Benton has a nice read among picnic accessories and Charlie Benton becomes one with the earth under Thomas' supervision (July 1996, 40K jpg left and 43K jpg right).
On the left is Claudia in a typical Northern California beach scene - seeking warmth as the fog rolls in. On the right is Charlie half-buried in the sand.
